As you browse this site you soon will become aware of the caring community that has come together to honor the development of children. You will also see that The Lamplighter School is a vital and active community of learners committed to hands-on collaborative learning in the context of teaching the fundamentals that our students will use as they progress though school and life.

The Lamplighter School is not just a school. It is a place where one learns to value oneself and to develop healthy self-esteem. It is working together and appreciating the contributions of others through cooperative learning, group work, and our special areas, which are an important and integral part of our total curriculum. Lamplighter is an environment that comfortably encourages intellectual exploration, risk-taking and creative problem solving. Most importantly, Lamplighter is a partnership of parents, teachers and students who come together daily to engage in the best educational processes and practices.

Our unique and beautiful campus, designed by O'Neil Ford and Frank Welch, supports our highly integrated, open-ended program. Our emphasis on the stewardship of the environment is made manifest by our barn/outdoor education center. Our playgrounds are an extension of our classrooms and bring imagination, education and physical development outdoors.
