Welcome to Lamplighter!
Lamplighter is a school that values and honors childhood. We believe that school must be a place where children can invent, experiment, and improvise. Through age-appropriate intellectual, creative, and physical challenges, our students learn to lead and to support one another.
At Lamplighter, the student is central. Our faculty is extraordinarily skilled at working side by side with students to nurture the natural curiosity within each child. Students also spend time communicating and collaborating with each another as they discuss ways to make their ideas come to life.
Our motto, “A student is not a vessel to be filled, but a lamp to be lighted,” is alive in all aspects of our program. We offer limitless possibilities for learning, including a partnership with the Perot Museum of Nature and Science that provides our students with opportunities to work collaboratively to solve real problems, an outdoor environmental science building, and gardens that are tended by our students. Community service is embedded in the curriculum and values are shaped by learning to care about other people as well as caring for the chickens that live with other farm animals in our barn.
Lamplighter students emerge as confident leaders, risk takers, and problem solvers. They are ready to contribute to their next school community by sharing what they know and by learning from others.
Let us show you more about Lamplighter.
