Professional Development
Opportunities for faculty professional development are extensive, both in the breadth of topics offered and in the funding available to support them.

Workshops and Conferences
Teachers and administrators regularly attend and present at national and regional conferences, including National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS), Independent Schools Association of the Southwest (ISAS), and the People of Color Conference (PoCC). Faculty also attend local workshops and online courses to remain at the forefront of their field.

Curriculum Committees
Each summer, faculty from across grade levels come together to review and refine the School’s curriculum. Committees focused on math, literacy, science, and other key areas ensure that our program remains thoughtfully designed for our students and vertically aligned from grade to grade. Participation is voluntary and a stipend is offered for summer work.

Mattingly Fund
Established in 2000, The Mattingly Fund for Excellence in Education allows members of the faculty and staff to grow personally and professionally through a grant awarded annually. The Fund allows teachers to embark on adventures including: a biking trip through Vietnam, a cooking class in Italy, Habitat for Humanity in Fiji, and a marathon on Easter Island.
In my 25+ years at Lamplighter, the School has provided me with the financial support to pursue my master's degree, inspiration to apply for the Mattingly Fund for Excellence in Education, which funded my first trip abroad, and the encouragement to train and transition from literacy teacher to school librarian. - Jody Stout, Librarian

The Dallas-Ft. Worth (DFW) metroplex is an ideal destination for people looking for a dynamic, affordable, and thriving city with ample career opportunities and a great quality of life.
Dallas is the ninth largest city in the United States, with over 8 million people living in the greater DFW area, and is considered to have the fastest population growth among all metro areas. The region has a thriving job market across various industries such as finance, healthcare, energy, entertainment, and transportation. The DFW area is also a hub for professional sports teams, a thriving arts and music scene, and outdoor recreation.
