Student Resources

Beyond the classroom, Lamplighter students benefit from a strong network of support services and specialized faculty.

The School employs a full-time, on-site School Nurse and a full-time School Counselor who provide care and guidance throughout the school day. In addition, three full-time faculty members work closely with students to provide targeted literacy and math extension and support, ensuring each child receives the resources needed to thrive.

Lamplighter also holds parent-teacher conferences four times each year to strengthen the partnership between school and home while maintaining consistent communication about each student’s progress and developmental growth.

Extension

Lamplighter’s full-time Literacy Specialist and Math Specialist provide extension for students in Kindergarten through fourth grade, working in small groups to extend and strengthen classroom learning. The Literacy Specialist also oversees Barn & Gardens, Lamplighter’s student literary magazine, produced twice each year by fourth graders. Learn more about this publication in the video below.

Support

Lamplighter offers targeted literacy, math, speech, and occupational therapy support through full-time faculty and outside partners. Our Math Specialist works with small groups of students to strengthen foundational math skills. Our full-time Certified Academic Language Therapist provides specialized instruction during the school day for students diagnosed with dyslexia. Lamplighter also partners with The Shelton Speech and Language Clinic and Dallas Outpatient Therapy Services for Kids (DOTS) to allow students to receive speech, language, and occupational therapy services on Lamplighter's campus and within the regular school day. Parents coordinate these services through the partners, with the support of Lamplighter's School Counselor.

Barn & Gardens

Barn & Gardens is a student-created literary magazine written, photographed, and designed entirely by fourth grade students. Working in small groups with the School’s Literacy Specialist, Lamplighter Seniors develop each issue over the course of a semester, selecting features and collaborating with partners or teams to produce their sections. The magazine is published twice each year and shared with the Lamplighter student body.
