Kindergarten Square Dancing
Square dancing, Lamplighter's oldest tradition, dates back 67 years to 1953. All year, Kindergarten and Transitional First (T1) students learn to swing their partners and do-si-so in time to the music.
Square dancing practice happens during some designated physical education times and, as a refresher, during fun breaks in regular classroom time. Each year in the spring, the Kindergarten and T-1 students dress up, if desired, in their finest boots, hats, neckerchiefs, and dresses and head on down to the auditorium. There, they perform the dances they have worked so hard on all year for their families.
