As part of Black History Month, Lamplighter hosted an all-school assembly on February 10 with a performance by the Dallas Black Dance Theatre. Ten talented young artists from the Dallas Black Dance Theatre shared “Reminisce,” a performance about hope, joy, friendship, and love, for our students.

The Dallas Black Dance Theatre was founded in 1976 with the mission to create and produce contemporary modern dance at its highest level of artistic excellence performances and educational programs that bridge cultures and reach diverse communities. With an ever-expanding national and global audience, the company employs a diverse, multi-ethnic troupe of dancers performing for audiences of all ages and backgrounds.

Lamplighter students enthusiastically cheered on the performers throughout the assembly which displayed a wide range of dance numbers. Students were especially impressed by the lifts and jumps! Following the performance, each dancer introduced themselves and shared their hometown, educational background, and experience with the dance company. This year’s dance assembly marks the fifth year the Dallas Black Dance Theatre has performed on Lamplighter’s campus.
